Adieu
shot to the forefront of her division and can now be considered
a serious threat for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1)
later this month after she handled the sloppy track at Belmont
Park on Saturday in the $500,000 Frizette Stakes (G1) for her
first Grade 1 win.
Mykindasaint dictated the early pace through game fractions
of :22.29 and :45.26, while jockey John Velazquez eased an eager
8-to-5 favorite Adieu into second on the inside.
After reeling in Mykindasaint and taking the lead by a head
through six furlongs in 1:10.94, Adieu dug in for the drive and
refused to relinquish her command as stakes-placed Along the Sea
came charging. Adieu kicked clear to post a two-length win in
1:38.07 for the one-mile race. Keeneland Kat, making her first
start since winning the Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park on
September 3, tired in the final furlong after advancing steadily
and finished 4¾ lengths back in third.
