Jockey
John Velazquez positioned the three-year-old
Hennessy colt in an ideal stalking position outside of
pacesetter Quietly Go entering the turn of the seven-furlong
race, and Henny Hughes seized command approaching the stretch.
Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, Henny Hughes accelerated away
from the field at the top of the stretch and cruised to the wire
under a hand ride in 1:21.96.
Runner-up Star Dabbler edged fast-closing Court Folly for
second by three-quarters of a length.
Placed three times in Grade 1 races as a juvenile, Henny
Hughes's King's Bishop score marked his first Grade 1 win
triumph. With the win, he improves to five wins and three
seconds from eight career starts.
