Biancone said he was informed of the decision on Monday,
two days after Henny Hughes finished second and 2 3/4
lengths behind undefeated First Samurai in the Champagne
Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park.
"I guess because he had been beaten," Biancone said
on Tuesday. "Henny, he’s a lovely horse to train. I
would say at this stage he’s the second best
two-year-old in the country."
Henny Hughes is now in McLaughlin’s barn at Belmont.
"Jimmy Bell contacted me and asked me if I had a
stall available, and I excitedly said yes," McLaughlin
said. "I’m going to point for the Breeders’ Cup and
we’ll go from there. He’s a very nice horse. Patrick has
done a great job with him. I thought his race the other
day was an excellent race under the fast pace scenario.
He ran very well."
