Henny
Hughes returned to competition in impressive fashion on
Saturday, powerfully accelerating around the turn en route to a
dominant ten-length victory in the $145,500 Jersey Shore
Breeders' Cup Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park. The victory came
in the first start for the three-year-old Hennessy colt since he
finished second to Stevie Wonderboy in the Breeders' Cup
Juvenile (G1) on October 29 at Belmont Park.
Owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum sent Henny Hughes
to Dubai for the winter. The colt did not race there amid a
series of changes at Sheikh Rashid's Millennium Stables,
however, and he was shipped back to Kiaran McLaughlin's barn at
Belmont Park to race in the name of Sheikh Rashid's Zabeel
Racing International.
