older brother taking pity on a younger sibling in a backyard
basketball game, Gary Stevens allowed Henny Hughes to waltz home
in the final furlong as the undefeated son of Hennessy dominated
five overmatched rivals in the $150,000 Saratoga Special Stakes
(G2) on Thursday.
After securing an early lead while being pushed along by Short Circuit and Hold On Tight through a quarter-mile in :22.67, Henny Hughes edged away in the turn and opened a seven-length advantage in midstretch. |
